No / Low Spray

If you are experiencing no / low spray on your Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner or Pet Portable Spot Cleaner, please attempt the troubleshooting methods below.

  • Please ensure that you’re pressing the spray trigger down for consistant covereage
  • Please ensure that there is enough water in the Clean Water Tank. If low, refill.
  • Please ensure that the grey screwcaps are securely in place and not damaged.
  • Please ensure that the tanks themselves are sat properly and correctly on the machine and that they are not damaged.

If issues persists, please complete the Breakdown Contact Form on our support page and we can look to having your machine returned to our workshop to be assessed & repaired by one of our engineers.

No / Low Suction

If you are experiencing no / low suction on your Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner or Pet Portable Spot Cleaner, please attempt the troubleshooting methods below.

  • Please ensure that the grey screwcaps on the tanks are securely in place and not damaged.
  • Please ensure that the tanks themselves are sat securely and properly on the machine and not damaged.
  • Please check the water levels in the waste water tank. If the tank is full, then please empty the machine before continued use.
  • Please ensure that there is no debris that could be obstructing the machine from performing correctly.
  • To prevent an internal blockage, we recommend to leave the machine running for 30-60 seconds after each use to clear any chemical or debris from the internals of the machine.

Machine is Leaking / Releasing a Vapour

If you are experiencing a leak with your Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner or Pet Portable Spot Cleaner, please attempt the troubleshooting methods below.

  • Please ensure that the grey screwcaps on the tanks are securely in place and not damaged.
  • Please ensure that the tanks themselves are sat securely and properly on the machine and not damaged.
  • Please ensure that the waste water tank is not being overfilled. If this tank is overfilled, this can cause water to overflow in to the internals of the machine and causing a leak through the bottom or back vents of the machine. On occasion, if this water makes contact with an internal part such as a motor, this can cause a ‘smoke-like’ water vapour to be released from the machine. This is nothing to worry about, however, please allow the machine to dry before further use.

Brushes not Oscillating (Not applicable to PET Version)

If you are experiencing your brushes not oscillating or vibrating on your Rug Doctor Portable Spot Cleaner or Pet Portable Spot Cleaner, please attempt the troubleshooting methods below.

  • Please ensure that the machine is plugged in and turned on. Please ensure that this is not being used with any extensions leads.
  • Please ensure that the brush motor is switched on via the switch on the hand held tool.
  • Please ensure that there is no debris that could be obstructing the brushes from oscillating.
